Dear Friend,
I’m alarmed by the news coming out of New Mexico: An ordinance that will severely derail women’s access to safe abortions is set to be voted on next week.
Anti-choice activists will be working hard to convince the people of Albuquerque to vote on November 19th in support of a complete ban on abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
This vote will have a major impact on the rights of women in Albuquerque and across the nation, as Religious Right activists nationwide are looking to this vote as a precursor to other attempts to remove a woman’s right to choose.
Help protect a woman’s right to choose. Vote against the “Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Ordinance” and preserve reproductive freedom for all women, both inside and outside of New Mexico.
There is no doubt that the anti-choice movement is already starting to misinform voters on this ordinance and will be putting all of their effort toward getting this passed. One of the groups behind the ordinance, Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust, even launched a protest in front of the New Mexico Holocaust and Intolerance Museum where they held up banners calling Albuquerque “America’s Auschwitz.” This craziness is only further proof of why it’s important not only to vote against the ordinance, but to encourage your friends and family to do the same.
Let’s show how the humanist movement in Albuquerque can make a difference in the fight for reproductive freedom. I encourage you to vote against this ordinance to ban abortions and inform as many people as you can to join you.
Thank you for defending the right to choose.
Sincerely,
Roy Speckhardt
