Humanist Charities proudly supports the Children of the Border project to raise funds for the women of Haiti and the Dominican Republic to have safe, emergency medical treatment and access to safe birth control and education on family planning.
Children of the Border is a project led by Sebastian Velez, evolutionary biologist at Harvard University, and a committed group of Humanist volunteers serving people in some of the most impoverish areas of Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
The situation for pregnant women in Haiti is dire . A small van, often broken or already in use, functions as the only hospital ambulance for 15,000 people. And women and men who have recently undergone tubal ligation or vasectomy surgery do not have safe and clean housing outside the hospital during the recovery period. Your help is greatly needed. Give today.
Your contribution can help hundreds of women receive proper medical treatment, including emergency ambulance service, access to ultrasound equipment, and a clean environment post-childbirth.
Right now, Humanist volunteers are working to build a Community Health House to provide these services to the women and men of Haiti and purchase additional vehicles to provide speedy ambulance service to women in labor. Your generous support right now will bring us one step closer to providing the emergency medical treatment these women desperately need.
Donating through Humanist Charities is fast, secure, and allows Humanists like you the comfort in knowing that your dollars will be an unambiguous Humanist means of supporting relief efforts. Your support today can save not just one woman’s life, but many others.
