Our Mission

The American Humanist Association works to protect the rights of Humanists, atheists and other non-theistic Americans. We advance the progressive, non-theistic belief system of Humanism, which emphasizes human agency and our responsibility to one another. Humanists value empathy, fairness and critical thinking, and we demand the same of our institutions.
