Today, the American Humanist Association (AHA) celebrates the House passage of H.R. 5376, the Build Back Better Act, in a 220-213 vote. This transformative legislation is an investment in our nation’s children and families, affordable healthcare and housing, and climate action. The bill is the most significant step in recent history toward building a country that works for all of us through the creation of a national paid family and medical leave program and more.
“We commend the House’s movement on this bill as a step toward a future that uplifts the dignity and potential of all America’s families and communities,” says Rachel Deitch, Director of Policy and Social Justice at the American Humanist Association. “But Congress’s work is far from over. The Senate must now pass the Build Back Better Act, with no delay and without damaging amendments. The American Humanist Association calls on the Senate to swiftly pass this comprehensive bill in full, to show their commitment to American families.”
