Dear Friend,

Imagine being attacked, or even killed, simply because you are an atheist. For nonbelievers in Bangladesh this nightmare is a reality, as seen by the recent murders of three nonreligious bloggers—Ananta Bijoy Das, Avijit Roy, and Oyasiqur Rhaman—all whom were attacked simply for promoting critical thinking and freethought.

Atheists and humanists cannot afford to sit back while these attacks occur. That’s why the American Humanist Association, working with our allies at the Center for Inquiry, will be hosting a series of congressional briefings on Capitol Hill focusing on international religious freedom concerns for nonbelievers.

Congress has the unique ability to promote international religious freedom on the global stage and to demand governments of countries where religious and non-religious rights are not respected to shape up. But in order for Congress to act, your support is needed.

Can you take a moment right now to encourage your Representative, Senators, and their staffs to attend the AHA’s international religious freedom briefings on June 9th?

With so much happening in the world, it’s easy to feel that the problems are too large and far away for us to have a positive impact. But with your help, we can make sure that Congress takes action on this issue.

Contact your Representative and Senators right now and ask that their office is present at our crucially important religious freedom briefing.

Powerful change can begin with just one person. With your support, we can make the world safer for everyone—Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, humanists, and atheists alike.

Sincerely,
