A U.S. Supreme Court case involving a town in upstate New York might ultimately decide the fate of a federal lawsuit from two residents challenging the Carroll County Board of Commissioners’ practice of starting each meeting with a prayer to Jesus Christ.
In the meantime, Judge William D. Quarles Jr. said Friday at the U.S. District Court of Maryland in Baltimore that he will issue a written decision on the request to temporarily stop the commissioners’ sectarian prayers.
