Last week we sent you an action alert that asked you to sign our petition to the Texas State Board of Education, urging them to preserve an accurate account of the secular nature of our government in their social studies curriculum.
Within a few days we accumulated over 1,000 signatures and we’re getting more by the hour.
But it’s too early to celebrate — now is a crucial time for action! We already have the ear of the Texas State Board of Education, who has responded to a letter from the Kochhar Humanist Education Center, and the media is keeping their eye on this issue. We need to show them that humanists are a strong, united force and we won’t let our classrooms be sabotaged by far-right historical revisionists!
So if you haven’t yet signed our petition, please do so today! And if you have signed the petition, please forward it to your friends and family by clicking here.
Remember, this doesn’t just affect kids in Texas public schools. The new social studies curriculum could affect kids in many other states because textbooks used country-wide are often written to meet Texas guidelines.
So join with the American Humanist Association today in standing up for historical accuracy in social studies classes! Sign our petition today or forward it to a friend!
