WASHINGTON – The following is a statement from Fish Stark, Executive Director of the American Humanist Association, on President Trump’s illegal actions in Venezuela this weekend:
“We American humanists emphatically and categorically reject the Trump administration’s move to kidnap and arrest the leader of a foreign nation and install itself in control. This aggression violates international law, the sovereignty of the Venezuelan people, and sets a dangerous, chilling precedent for future U.S. invasions abroad.
“No more regime-change wars. No more posturing and murdering civilians in the name of ‘American greatness.’ We are all too familiar with the consequences of past U.S. attempts to control oil resources abroad, and we refuse to stand by while more blood is shed.
“This is an issue of humanity, of what is right and wrong, and we are outraged by the path the Trump administration has put us on.”
