Religious Liberty for Whom? Diverse Leaders Offer an Inclusive Vision Ahead of America 250 and the Trump Administration’s Report
On Tuesday, June 16, please join the Center for American Progress, Americans United for Separation of Church and State, Interfaith Alliance, and the American Humanist Association for the launch of “Religious Liberty for All: Celebrating This Founding Freedom at America 250,” an upcoming report featuring 20 prominent voices on what religious liberty means in their lives and the nation. Their answers make the case for a vision of religious liberty rooted in dignity and the Constitution.
The report and event come against the backdrop of the Trump administration’s creation of a new Religious Liberty Commission that features a very narrow ideological perspective and seeks to weaken the separation of church and state. The Religious Liberty Commission is expected to release a report in the coming months that could promote some religious beliefs over others, eroding religious freedom.
The event will include two panel discussions — including our very own Fish Stark — and a keynote from Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) celebrating the report’s release.
