Compassion in Practice: Humanist Care in Times of Grief

Join us for this four-week series in April, designed to help you gain insights into your own experiences of coping with grief, while also giving you tools to facilitate healthier grief care sessions for those secular and non-religious persons you provide care. The series will provide you with insights, ideas, and a grief guide created by Lisa; a helpful tool for both humanist chaplains and celebrants.

Course Instructor

Lisa Reshad is a board-certified Humanist chaplain serving full-time in a hospital setting. Her main focus is in the area of grief counseling, as well as palliative care, moral injury, and suicide prevention. Prior to her work in hospital chaplaincy, Lisa worked in hospice, where she also became certified in thanatology and trained as an end-of-life doula. Providing excellent grief care to patients is not only Lisa’s specialty area of chaplaincy, but also a deeply personal passion from lived experience. When not at the hospital, Lisa enjoys spending time with her two children and spouse in the northeastern Ohio area.
