Maybe you’re still holding your own faith close, but you get uneasy watching anyone’s religious freedom get chipped away, including your own. Here’s something that might surprise you: Humanists aren’t trying to get rid of religion or talk you out of yours. Humanism is a belief system built on reason and compassion instead of theistic doctrine, but we’re not opposed to faith – we’re opposed to anyone’s faith being forced on someone else.
That’s what the American Humanist Association actually exists for when it comes to faith: keeping the government out of the belief business entirely, because the same wall that stops one religion from being forced on everyone else is what protects your right to practice yours without interference, too.
