AHA spent 2024 not just watching Congress but actively shaping what happens inside it.
We supported the expansion of the Congressional Freethought Caucus, helped launch the Stop Project 2025 Task Force, and delivered policy briefings and talking points that informed their advocacy. We met with dozens of offices to promote secular priorities and build bipartisan support for protecting civil rights from religious intrusion.
Representative Jamie Raskin reintroduced the National Day of Reason resolution with AHA’s backing, giving visibility and legitimacy to secular Americans at a time when our existence is under political attack.
Through our action platform, we helped humanists send over 10,000 direct messages to lawmakers. We welcomed more than 3,000 new contacts into our advocacy network. We endorsed or co-signed 78 bills and policy letters supporting reproductive rights, LGBTQIA+ protections, voting access, judicial reform, climate action, and more.
The AHA is steadily becoming a trusted voice on Capitol Hill for reason, equality, and evidence-based governance. Because democracy doesn’t work unless people use it.
