Anthony B. Pinn is the Agnes Cullen Arnold Professor of Humanities and Professor of Religion at Rice University. He is also Director of Research for the Institute for Humanist Studies think tank in Washington, DC.

Pinn is the author/editor of over 30 books, including numerous volumes related to African American humanism. He is also the editor of four book series, including Studies in Humanist Thought and Praxis.

Pinn is the leading scholar of African American humanism, and his research and teaching in this area has been recognized by awards including the 1999 African American Humanist Award from the Council for Secular Humanism and the 2006 Harvard University Humanist Chaplaincy “Humanist of the Year”.

His speaking topics includes “The History of African American Humanism,” “African American Humanist Thought and Practice,” “African American Humanism as Religion,” “Pop Culture, Religion, and Humanism,” African American Humanist Ethics,” and “Religion vs. Atheism.” Honorarium terms are best negotiated on individual basis. Anthony Pinn does not usually stipulate this fee; however compensation for travel is required.
