Nikki Stern is a writer and the author of Hope in Small Doses, a new book from Humanist Press (www.hopeinsmalldoses.com) that presents a version of hope that relies not on certainty but on possibility. She is also the author Because I Say So: The Dangerous Appeal of Moral Authority, in which she debunks the idea of moral certainty. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, Newsweek, USA Today, Humanist Magazine, Salon and Talking Writing.

For her role in co-sponsoring a series of meetings that brought together Muslim and non-Muslim communities, she and FOS11 shared a Common Ground award in 2005 from the global conflict transformation group Search for Common Ground.
