MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR: Our Day in Court
Yesterday I stood outside the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court to celebrate oral arguments in Doe v. Acton School District—the American Humanist Association’s case challenging the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools with the words “under God.” Since then, reporters from CNN, Fox News, Associated Press, National Public Radio, and more have covered the case, giving publicity to humanism like never before. We couldn’t have done it without you standing beside us.
Whether it’s challenging religious symbols on public land or representing students’ rights to learn free from religious intrusion, the AHA’s Appignani Humanist Legal Center is building a track record of wins for the humanist movement. I’m proud of our legal work, and I hope you are too, which is why I strongly encourage you to support our efforts in the courts. Donate to the AHA’s Appignani Humanist Legal Center and let’s keep up the fight for humanist rights.
